  • Feminist Masculinity in a Patriarchal World

Growing up and to this day, I often see feminism understood as solely a women’s issue, leaving little space for men to relate to or engage with feminist practice. As our society continues to escalate attacks on bodily autonomy and trans rights, it is increasingly important to more evenly distribute the responsibility of ending ‘sexism, sexist exploitation and oppression (bell hooks).'

It is with that in mind that I am offering this space, to make feminism a more accessible practice for men and masc folk. Drawing inspiration from the work of bell hooks, amongst others, we will spend an evening exploring what it means to be both feminist and masculine in our society:

what are our responsibilities, to ourselves and others?
    what does violence look like?
how can men, women and queer folk be complicit in upholding patriarchy?
